Completed by King Jeongjo of the late Joseon Dynasty, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage site that combines both Eastern and Western fortifications. The grandness of Paldalmun Gate can be seen as it stands proudly in the middle of a crowded road, and the coexistence of tradition and modernity is another unique feature you should look into. You can also go trekking along the fortress wall or enjoy the nighscape.

Tour the Fortress on the Hwaseong Tourist Trolley
This tourist trolley, modeled after Emperor Sunjong’s actual car and the royal carriage of the Joseon Dynasty, visits major sites within the fortress. Audio guide is available in English, Chinese and Japanese, so if you have earphones, plug them in in the earphone jacks by each seat.

Korean Folk Village

A typical village of the Joseon period has been recreated with thatched roof houses of commoners, houses of the nobles, a herbal medicine shop and more. Actors dressed in actual magistrate, gisaeng (female entertainers), and even beggar costumes of the time can be seen walking around the village to make your experience more real. Reenactments of a traditional wedding can be seen at one of the houses.

Osan College Station
Mulhyanggi Arboretum
Exit 2, 400m/6min
Located in an area known and named for its clean and clear water, inside the arboretum is a mineral spring. In accordance with the arboretum’s theme of “gathering of water, trees & humans,” there are 19 gardens that house wild flowers, subtropical plants, and aquatic plants. The beautiful irises in the wetland are often visited by greyheaded woodpeckers.
